TEXAS ATTORNEY GENERAL INVESTIGATES POSSIBLE VIOLATIONS
On August 27, 2008 WAOI News reported that the Texas Attorney General opened an investigation of Treatment Associates for possible violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and Consumer Protection Act as well as the Texas Identity Theft Prevention Act.
What spurred the investigation in Texas? A few weeks ago, WAOI News 4 in San Antonio, Texas found more than 40 patient files containing personal drug treatment and medical records in a dumpster behind Treatment Associates-a business that several state and county agencies use for drug testing and treatment.
Treatment Associates could face a $50,000 fine for each violation of the Texas Identity Theft Prevention Act.
