IMPROPER DISPOSAL OF DOCUMENTS AT MICHIGAN ABORTION CLINIC
 
On August 21, 2008, the Chicago Tribune reported that an abortion clinic in Michigan had been cited for improper disposal of patient documents. Patient medical and procedural information was found in dumpsters outside of the WomanCare facility in Lanthrup Village, Michigan. Southfield’s 46th District Court has reportedly filed a 12-count warrant against the clinic.
 
This clinic is also associated with 2 additional facilities in the Metro Michigan area. The extent of violations of patient privacy laws has yet to be determined.
