MAIL SERVICE DISPOSAL INCIDENT RAISES QUESTIONS ON DESTRUCTION RESPONSIBILITIES

San Diego, CA-based KGTV discovered a dumpster full of personal information when it responded to an anonymous viewer tip, according to a report it aired on July 24th. The report states that the dumpster was owned by a private postal services company and that the owner says the materials are placed there by customers.

The article does raise some interesting questions about what customers expect and the obligation of those who inadvertently find themselves in custody of confidential materials.
