UNSECURED PAYROLL RECORDS STOLEN

According to an article by Leslie Hutchison posted to the website of the Meriden Record-Journal, payroll records from the Southington Water Department in Southington, Connecticut were stolen from an abandoned building that had previously been the department's headquarters.   The records contained Social Security numbers and other personal information on both retirees and employees of the quasi-public water department, the report states.

On June 7th, a letter to the Connecticut Attorney General from the water department reported that it immediately notified employees once it learned that their Social Security numbers had been compromised.
