PRIVACY COMMISSIONER BLAMES LACK OF BASIC SECURITY FOR DATA BREACHES
According to the Canadian Privacy Commissioner’s 2007 Annual Report on the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) released on June 3rd, too many data breaches are occurring because companies have ignored some of the most basic steps to protect personal information.
Examples of reported breaches include improperly discarded paper records.
